KATA

KATA (型, かた) is a concept in the Japanese martial art of karate. It means a series of movements and techniques that an individual performs against an absent or imaginary opponent.

Kata is a social documentary about limits, hope and perseverance. The movie follows three people with a physical disability who share the same passion: karate. To them karate is more than a hobby. Karate has changed their lives. Frank, Giacomo and Dave live for their sport and practice it as much as possible. With karate they push through the boundaries of their physical and mental limitations within themselves and in society. Karate is a symbol for their struggle and an outlet for their frustrations and fears.
