As filmmakers, we’re interested in big social topics as well as small stories that often escape the media’s gaze. We want our work to get under people’s skin, touch them and provide new insights. It’s not uncommon for us to test the limits between fiction and reality, between experience and imagination, between reproduction and manipulation.

Stig Junes is a filmmaker with a passion for history and current events, the subconscious, and captivating movies and literature. According to himself his calling for filmmaking developed by watching spaghetti westerns like A Fistful of Dollars and Once Upon A Time In the West. He never did become a gunslinger, no, but as a teenager he used to go to school in tight jeans and cowboy boots. Many grey years later, Stig prefers to shape stories and going out with a film crew. Stig loves rice tarts, grotesque stories and seemingly ugly settings that are beautiful in their own way. A little like himself…

Lorenz

Lorenz is a visual glutton who, in addition to film, also cherishes a love for photography and graphic arts. He loves nothing more than to go out with a camera and discover the world through his lens. A camera makes you look at the world differently. Something inconspicuous suddenly becomes visible, something insignificant can become something extraordinary through the viewfinder. It is a privilege for Lorenz to constantly visit new places for documentaries, reports and portraits, to get to know new people and to dive into their world for a moment. With Studio Tropics he is looking for big and small stories of people, both close to home and abroad.

His strengths lie in storytelling and visualising a narrative. You will regularly find him behind the camera, but he also likes to direct video clips, art projects and other portrait videos.
